The pocket watch, also known as a "fob watch", was invented by Jules Audemars and Edward Piguet, who would go on to become celebrated watchmakers and found their own eponymous Maison.
The design and style of this pocket timepiece dates back to 1500. At that time, it was made without a crystal and protected by a simple flip cover (clapet). It was not until 1550 that watches adopted the round, flat shape we know today. This pocket timepiece was popularized by Charles II of England, who carried it on his many travels and introduced it to the world. Pocket watches existed before 1882, but it was only from that date onward that true fob watches came into being.

Traditionally associated with men's wear, this accessory could also be worn by women. It featured a dial with gold or silver hands, a protective crystal, and a flip cover. It was sometimes adorned with precious stones. The pocket watch reached its peak in the 19th century and was gradually replaced by the wristwatch in the 20th century.

Today, this vintage timepiece is making a major comeback, blending the artistry of mechanical movement with timeless old-world design. Once the chain is clipped to a jacket, the pocket watch becomes a prized accessory among watch lovers.
