Mido is a Swiss brand founded in 1918, renowned as a pioneer in precision watchmaking. Across its collections, it offers timepieces that are understated, elegant, durable, and functional. Ocean Star is a flagship collection dedicated to robust and reliable dive watches, packed with everything needed to win over underwater adventure enthusiasts. The Decompression World Timer model features a stainless steel case measuring 40.5 mm in diameter and 13.40 mm thick. With its round shape, it weighs 220 grams and is fully polished, giving the watch a brilliance that is nothing short of elegant. It is topped by a bidirectional rotating bezel with a luminous marker and a blue color for an irresistible, refreshing look. The bezel is engraved with city names representing the 24 time zones to support the GMT function. For protection, a durable sapphire glassbox crystal covers the dial to shield it from any impact. The crown at 3 o'clock is screw-down and allows adjustment of the hours, minutes, and date. Also screw-down, the case back bears the Ocean Star logo - a starfish - reinforcing the durability of this timepiece while ensuring water resistance of 20 ATM.
The dial of this model is impossible to ignore, thanks to its bold colors and daring design. Built for diving, it displays various decompression stop information. On a blue background, a minute track runs along the circumference. It surrounds luminescent rectangular hour markers emphasized every 3 hours. They are complemented by a yellow inner circle bearing Arabic numerals from 0 to 24. At the center, 4 luminescent hands each take a distinct shape. The hour hand, the most prominent, is dauphine-style. The minute hand is sword-shaped, while the slim seconds hand tracks the seconds. The 4th hand, tipped with a red arrow, points to the GMT hour. Below 12 o'clock, numerals indicate the maximum depth in feet on the right and in meters on the left. The decompression stop scale is made up of several multicolored bands, each representing a dive depth. The small central sub-dial features small markers, the brand name, and the movement type. Finally, the date complication is displayed in a window at 3 o'clock.
Inside the robust case beats a Swiss-made automatic movement. Proprietary to the brand, the caliber 80 Nivachron based on the ETA C07.661 latest generation drives the dial's components with precision and responsiveness. Fitted with a Nivachron hairspring, it delivers an exceptional power reserve of up to 80 hours.
This timepiece comes fitted with a rubber strap 21 mm wide. It sports a gorgeous blue color to match the bezel, and features a quick-release spur system for easy strap changes. It closes with a pin buckle in stainless steel.
To mix up your style, a second strap in stainless steel with a Milanese mesh finish and a sliding clasp is included. It will dress your wrist with effortless elegance.
With a water resistance of 20 atmospheres, equivalent to 200 meters, this model can confidently be called a true dive watch. Our watchmaking experts agree: while it's more than capable of handling showers, baths, lap swimming, freediving, and recreational scuba, it is by no means built for extreme deep-sea diving, where pressure would exceed its water resistance rating. For our professional diver friends taking on depth challenges, we recommend looking at models rated 30 ATM and above. We also recommend avoiding operating the pushers or crown while underwater to maintain a perfect seal.
