The Watch

Mido crafts functional, robust automatic timepieces. The brand's collections are devoted to diving models featuring monocoque cases and the Aquadura system - always pushing the boundaries of performance with prototypes offering outstanding water resistance, thanks to the cork crown gasket. From the Ocean Star collection comes this Captain Decompression, reference M0268291705100. It features a round case crafted in stainless steel, its polished finish delivering a crisp, well-defined brilliance. The case weighs 220 grams, measures 40.50 millimeters in diameter and 13.40 millimeters thick - dimensions that sit perfectly on men's wrists. A bidirectional rotating fluted bezel sits atop the watch, featuring a luminescent marker and the names of 24 cities representing the world's time zones. The dial is protected by a highly resistant domed sapphire crystal that shields it from everyday shocks and scratches. At 3 o'clock, a screw-down crown engraved with the brand name allows adjustment of the watch's multiple functions. The screw-down caseback, engraved with key specifications, ensures water resistance to 20 ATM.

The Dial

This black-dial face is packed with timekeeping indicators, making this watch a truly unique and complete piece. At 12 o'clock, depth figures are displayed in feet on the right and meters on the left, indicating the maximum depth a diver can safely reach. Each depth level is marked by a color-coded disc for clear, intuitive guidance. Around the dial, a minute track encircles rectangular indices - enlarged at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock - to indicate the hours. They are accompanied by a yellow-background ring featuring Arabic numerals at each hour and mini squares at each half-hour. All these timekeeping indicators are read by three central hands displaying hours, minutes, and seconds. The luminescent treatment on the indices and hands ensures excellent legibility even in poorly lit environments. The red arrow hand handles the GMT function. A white-background date window at 3 o'clock keeps you up to date, day after day. Finally, the brand name and movement reference are displayed on the black center disc.

The Movement

Beating at the heart of this case is a Mido Caliber 80 automatic movement. Swiss-made and proprietary to the brand, it brings the watch's hands to life with precision and reliability. Based on the ETA C07.661, it delivers a power reserve of up to 80 hours, while its Nivachron hairspring ensures resistance to magnetic fields.

The Strap

The strap paired with this watch is crafted from black rubber. With a 21-millimeter lug width, it works with virtually any style. It fastens with a stainless steel pin buckle, keeping it securely in place throughout the day.

To complement the aesthetics of this watch, Mido includes a second bracelet in Milanese mesh stainless steel. It features a sliding clasp for easy fastening, and the quick-change system makes swapping between the two a breeze.

Water Resistance

With water resistance to 20 atmospheres - or 200 meters - this model earns the title of "dive watch" without hesitation. Our watchmaking experts agree: it's more than up to the task for showers, baths, vigorous swimming sessions, freediving, and recreational scuba diving. However, it is not designed for extreme deep-sea diving, where the pressure would exceed its limits. For professional divers tackling serious depths, we recommend models rated 30 ATM and above. We also advise against operating the pushers or crown while submerged, to maintain a perfect seal at all times.
