The Watch
Step into the world of SevenFriday - a Swiss brand crafting quality timepieces where modernity meets prestige. Every model in the collection shares a bold, singular design, united by a set of signature details that make each piece instantly recognizable. What sets SevenFriday apart? An industrial aesthetic rooted in Swiss craftsmanship - and the audacity to pair it with a Hong Kong-made Miyota movement. The brand deliberately breaks away from the classic codes of traditional Swiss watchmaking while winning over even the most purist collectors. True to that vision, SevenFriday introduces the M1B/01 Urban Explorer. It features the brand's iconic cushion-shaped stainless steel case with a blue PVD coating, measuring 47.6 mm wide by 47 mm long. Like any traditional watch, the crown sits at 3 o'clock - substantial in size, with a knurled finish for easy grip. Use it to adjust the rotating hour and minute discs, or to wind the automatic movement. The rectangular dial is protected by a tempered K1 mineral crystal for exceptional durability, while the caseback - secured by 4 screws - ensures water resistance to 3 ATM. An NFC chip embedded in the caseback also guarantees the model's authenticity through dedicated technology.
The Dial
SevenFriday's signature dial leans fully into the model's industrial, contemporary aesthetic. Its rectangular shape is a perfect match for the brand's iconic case. The dial is rich in carefully crafted details, built up through layered elements that create a strong sense of depth and texture. At the heart of this design sit two rotating discs, visible through a window on the left side of the dial: the first displays the hours, the second the minutes. All discs on this model rotate clockwise. The seconds are shown through a discreet aperture at the center, revealing a fine blue hand that advances subtly with each passing second. Two textured steel plates dress the dial further, along with three visible screws holding the model's multiple components in place. The Swiss house's signature, positioned opposite the 3 o'clock crown, puts the finishing touch on the whole design.
The Movement
Swiss-born SevenFriday makes a bold statement by equipping this already highly distinctive model with a Miyota automatic movement. Assembled in Hong Kong, the watch is powered by a Miyota 8215 caliber with a 40-hour power reserve. This movement drives the rotating discs that display the hours, minutes, and seconds.
The Strap
Rooted in the now, Swiss watchmaker SevenFriday doubles down on modernity with a denim strap for this model. Woven from blue cotton threads, it delivers an unabashedly contemporary jean-inspired look. The lining features a stamped beige pattern, while black calfskin leather panels on the front of the strap add a touch of quality craftsmanship. The lug width on this far-from-conventional watch measures 28 mm, and an oversized silver-tone pin buckle serves as the clasp.
Water Resistance
With a water resistance rating of 3 atmospheres (30 meters), this watch is not designed for aquatic use. You can keep it on while washing your hands or doing light household chores that involve minimal water exposure - but the Ocarat team strongly recommends leaving it on the nightstand before a shower or bath, and in the hotel safe before heading to the pool or diving into the turquoise waters of your vacation spot.
