Founded in 1956, Humbert-Droz is a watchmaking brand that embodies horological excellence and a passion for innovation. The brand crafts elegant timepieces celebrated for their unique design, precision, and exceptional quality. As a tribute to the world's five oceans, Humbert-Droz unveils its new HD9 collection - a line of dive watches defined by their robustness, performance, and heirloom-worthy craftsmanship. This model, the HD9 Indian Ocean, captures the spirit of the Indian Ocean through its colors and lines. It features a round case measuring 45 mm in diameter, 13 mm thick, and 50 mm lug-to-lug. Crafted from 316L stainless steel, it sits comfortably on the wrist. The alternating brushed and polished finishes add character and refined charm. A unidirectional 120-click bezel is both a functional and stylish feature - graduated with a luminescent marker, it serves as a dive timer during immersion and frames a sapphire crystal that shields the dial from scratches. On the right side, the signed screw-down crown enables adjustment of the hours, minutes, and date. Finally, a screwed caseback with a display window offers a beautiful view of the movement's finishing. It guarantees a water resistance of 20 ATM.
Elegant, classic, and understated, the dial of this watch strikes the perfect balance between performance and aesthetics. Dressed in a sunray-brushed brown base, it features a slim grey minute track around its perimeter. Oversized round and baton indexes make reading the time effortless, and - like the rhodium-plated hands that point to them - are coated with Superluminova for clear legibility in the depths. The hour hand features an arrow shape, the minute hand a pointed tip, and the seconds hand an apple style. A cyclops lens magnifies the date window at 3 o'clock for easy reading. The brand name sits just below 12 o'clock, marked by a double index, while the movement reference and water resistance appear above 6 o'clock.
The analog display is driven by a La Joux-Perret G100 automatic movement assembled in the brand's own workshops. Equipped with 24 jewels, it delivers a generous 68-hour power reserve and beats at 28,800 vph (4 Hz).
Humbert-Droz fitted this model with a comfortable stainless steel bracelet. Composed of 5 rows of links, it alternates between polished and brushed finishes for a distinctive look. With a 20 mm lug width, it fastens with a deployant clasp.
For added comfort during dives, a second strap is included. Made from black rubber, it features tonal topstitching and fastens with an easy-to-use pin buckle.
With a water resistance of 20 atmospheres, equivalent to 200 meters, this model is a true dive watch. Our watchmaking experts agree that while this timepiece is more than capable of handling showers, baths, lap swimming, freediving, and recreational scuba, it is not designed for extreme deep-sea diving where pressure would overcome its seal. For professional divers taking on serious depths, we recommend models rated at 30 atmospheres or above. We also advise against operating pushers or the crown while submerged, to maintain a perfect seal!
