The Watch

Yema is a French watchmaking brand embodying excellence and innovation since its founding in 1948. Introducing the Flygraf AAE YMHF1582AA-AA watch, developed in partnership with the French Air and Space Force - a timepiece designed to exceed expectations while making time reading effortless. Inspired by French military aviation, this model delivers quality, precision, discipline, and boldness in equal measure. The round case is crafted in 316L stainless steel for outstanding durability and robustness. Its satin finish - expertly executed - complements the silver tone and lends the whole piece a sophisticated edge. Perfectly suited to any men's wrist, the case measures 40 mm in diameter and 9.50 mm thick, with a lug-to-lug length of 46 mm. Up top, a 2 mm domed hesalite crystal provides a classic look and ensures effortless readability. The crown - smartly engraved and knurled - is oversized so pilots can easily adjust the hands even with gloves on, a must during flight. It is flanked by two push buttons on either side for chronograph operation. The case back is hydraulic-press stamped with a brushed finish around the edge and a grained center bearing the French Air and Space Force logo. This screw-down case back guarantees water resistance to 10 ATM.

The Dial

As impressive in function as it is in appearance, the dial on this watch is simply exceptional. It sports a matte black background with a slightly raised perimeter featuring a tachymeter scale. This encircles a minute track combined with a seconds scale marked with Arabic numerals. A third scale follows, alternating bars with Arabic numerals from 2 to 20. All of this frames the hour markers, also in Arabic numerals coated with Super-LumiNova 7499 C/LE for perfect legibility in the dark. The hour and minute hands sport an aeronautical style, matching the tone of the markers and also coated with luminescent material for optimal readability. Two recessed sub-dials with a circular sunray-striped finish add a striking visual effect: the one at 6 o'clock shows the small seconds, while the one at 12 o'clock tracks 60 minutes of the chronograph. The chronograph seconds are displayed by the central grey sweep hand. Completing the design, the dial is stamped with the French Air and Space Force logo at 3 o'clock and the brand's signature at 9 o'clock. You'll also notice the colors of the French flag displayed around the rim of the 6 o'clock sub-dial.

The Movement

This edition runs on a Seiko VK61 meca-quartz hybrid movement of Japanese manufacture. Timekeeping functions are driven by a quartz caliber, while the chronograph is controlled by a mechanical module. Powered by a 394 battery for up to 3 years of autonomy, it offers analog display with a reliable chronograph complication. It oscillates at a frequency of 32,768 Hz.

The Strap

This watch is paired with a handsome AAE canvas strap crafted from fabric by a French manufacturer and designed exclusively for this model. In black, it features a bovine leather underside bearing the French Air Force logo. Comfortable against the skin, it delivers an optimal fit at the wrist with a 20 mm lug width and secure fastening via a 316L stainless steel pin buckle.

Water Resistance

With 100-meter water resistance - that's 10 ATM in watchmaking terms - this bold timepiece is ready for gala nights and pool days alike. Wear it in the shower, the bath, or for a vigorous swim - no problem. That said, our team of watchmaking experts wants to be clear: this model is not designed for scuba diving, freediving, or high-pressure water cleaning.
