The Watch

Founded in 2012 by Brice Jaunet, an ambitious young Frenchman, Briston Watches draws its inspiration from a distinctly British aesthetic - the "preppy" style, better known in France as the sport-chic look. From Oxford to Briston Watches, by way of Baume & Mercier, Cartier, and Zenith, Brice Jaunet honed his craft and built the expertise to launch his very own watch brand. The result? The Clubmaster Sport Taupe Gray 20142.SA.TS.30.NT - a watch that's sure to turn heads. True to form, it features Briston's signature square case, measuring 42 x 42 mm and crafted from cellulose acetate in a "tortoiseshell" pattern, produced and polished in Italy. The case is a perfect nod to RayBan's iconic Clubmaster frames - the ones our grandfathers wore and that never went out of style. It pairs with a round dial measuring 32.5 mm in diameter, in a taupe gray "sunray" finish. Inspired by 1960s racing car design, it carries a beautifully retro feel. At its center sit three hands: the two main ones are rhodium baton hands treated with Superluminova® for luminescence. The third is a chronograph hand - also called a seconds hand - lacquered white with a red tip. Two black curved square sub-dials flank the center: a 24-hour counter and a 60-minute counter, both complemented by a tachymeter scale. A date window sits at six o'clock, and skeletonized indexes in polished steel complete the dial - visible against the watch's black sub-dial. At two, three, and four o'clock, you'll find two pushers and a crown - also known as the winding crown - in 316L polished stainless steel. The dial is protected by a domed mineral crystal 2.3 mm thick to guard against scratches and knocks. A NATO strap in taupe gray nylon supports the case on both sides at the lug width of 20 mm. Finally, thanks to its screw-down case back, the 20142.SA.TS.30.NT is water-resistant to 10 ATM, or 100 meters.

The Dial

As mentioned earlier, the dial of this timepiece draws its inspiration from the racing car lines of the 1960s. Three hands are positioned at the center, indicating hours, minutes, and seconds respectively. The two main ones are baton hands, while the third is a seconds hand - also known as a chronograph hand - lacquered in white with a red tip. It evokes the circuit of a racing car, flying around the track at full speed. Two black curved square sub-dials are positioned at three and nine o'clock. The first is a 24-hour counter and the second is a 60-minute counter. A date window sits at six o'clock. Finally, a skeletonized index encircles these elements and is visible against the black sub-dial, adding striking contrast and elegance to the watch. A tachymeter scale wraps around the outer edge of the dial, allowing you to calculate average speed - typically in kilometers per hour - over a given distance, usually working in conjunction with the seconds hand. At two, three, and four o'clock, you'll find three pushers. The middle one - at three o'clock - is the manual crown, used to set the time when needed, such as during daylight saving changes or travel abroad. The two surrounding buttons are pushers. The bezel is also crafted in 316L polished stainless steel. To protect your timepiece for years to come, a domed mineral crystal 2.3 mm thick sits above the dial.

The Movement

The movement powering the 20142.SA.TS.30.NT is a quartz movement driven by a battery. More specifically, it is a Japanese-made movement - the Miyota OS21 caliber - delivering a power reserve of approximately 5 years and an oscillation frequency of 32,765 alternations per hour. Accuracy is rated at plus or minus twenty seconds per month.

The Bracelet

The 20142.SA.TS.30.NT features a NATO strap in taupe gray nylon, adding a strong style statement to this watch. It attaches to both sides of the case at a lug width of 20 mm. The strap is interchangeable, water-resistant, and measures up to 280 mm in length. It secures around your wrist with a pin buckle clasp, also crafted in 316L polished stainless steel, as are the keepers.

Water Resistance

With water resistance up to 100 meters - or 10 ATM in watchmaking terms - this boldly styled timepiece holds its own at a black-tie gala and in the water alike. Feel free to wear it in the shower, the bath, or while swimming (even during an intense workout). One important note from our watch experts: this model is not designed for scuba diving, freediving, or use with high-pressure washers. Remember: shower, bath, and swimming only - and keep those pushers and crown dry!
