Founded in 1957, Rado is a Swiss brand recognized worldwide for its innovative design and technological excellence. A true benchmark in watchmaking, the brand crafts unique, durable timepieces using specially engineered materials. Today, it introduces the Anatom Automatic watch, represented here by the R10202209 model - a reissue of the iconic Anatom first launched in 1983, celebrating its fortieth anniversary this year. Sharing the same technical DNA as the original, this new edition brings it into the modern era with a clean, contemporary aesthetic. The watch features a sleek, flat, and ergonomic curved rectangular case that hugs the wrist perfectly. It measures 32.50 mm wide and 11.30 mm thick, weighing in at 90.60 grams. The stainless steel case is finished with a black PVD coating in a sandblasted matte treatment. It is topped by a smooth, silky bezel crafted in matte black high-tech ceramic, which frames a convex sapphire crystal that follows the contour of the case beautifully. The crystal is anti-reflective treated, ensuring optimal legibility. On the right side, the crown - also in matte black high-tech ceramic - is highlighted by Rado's anchor logo and features a knurled grip for easy hour, minute, and date adjustment. The case back offers a stunning view of the movement through a transparent sapphire crystal window, encircled by a brushed silver-toned stainless steel ring. You can admire the Côtes de Genève on the anchor-shaped rotor, the perlage finish on the bridges and mainplate, and the brushed finishing on the barrel cover. Secured by screws, the case back ensures a water resistance of 5 ATM.
This watch features a bold, elegant dial with a subtle horizontally brushed finish and a gradient effect that deepens toward the edges in rich blue. The dark background contrasts beautifully with the silver-toned applied stick indices, enhancing time-reading precision. Treated with white luminescence, these markers ensure clear legibility in low-light conditions. The same treatment is applied to the central bars of the stick hands for hours and minutes, while the seconds hand features a classic design. The dial is further refined by a clean date window at 6 o'clock, beneath which the inscription "Swiss Made" confirms its origin. The iconic rotating anchor sits above the brand name at 12 o'clock, while the movement type is printed in white at 6 o'clock - a subtle nod to the timeless design of this dial.
The heart of this timepiece beats with the Rado R766 automatic movement. Based on the ETA2892, it offers a 72-hour power reserve and is fitted with an antimagnetic Nivachron balance spring. With 21 jewels, regulated on five positions, it runs at a beat frequency of 3 Hz, or 21,600 vibrations per hour. This movement delivers precise analog display with three hands and a date function.
This watch features a black rubber strap with a sporty yet refined look. Its horizontal groove texture delivers an ultra-comfortable fit and an elegant on-wrist feel. The strap closes with a stainless steel folding clasp fitted with a matte black high-tech ceramic protective cap.
With a water resistance of 50 meters - or 5 ATM in watchmaking terms - this timepiece can handle the occasional splash but isn't built for prolonged water exposure. Feel free to wear it in the shower now and then, but to protect the movement's accuracy and longevity, our watch specialists strongly advise keeping it away from baths, pools, and the sea. In short: no swimming, no diving, no extended contact with water.
