This 750/1000 Yellow Gold (18K) Magen David represents the Star of David. This pendant is also available in a large model with an average gold weight of 0.78 grams. It has a height of 24 mm and a width of 17 mm.
The Star of David (Magen David, literally "Shield of David") is the symbol of Judaism. It is made up of two equilateral triangles: one pointing upward, the other pointing downward. Today, it appears most notably on the flag of the State of Israel. According to Jewish tradition, it represents the emblem of King David and is seen as a symbol of the Messiah (of Davidic lineage). One might say that the expression "Star of David" is historical in nature, while the expression "Seal of Solomon" carries a magical connotation, value, and atmosphere.
Same denotation, but distinct connotations. Until the 15th century, the Star of David - or Seal of Solomon - was a protective magical symbol depicted on amulets. It only became the emblem of Judaism, much as the crucifix is for Christianity, after the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in the 15th century, and thanks to the spread of the printing press.
