Squale is a dedicated watchmaking house focused exclusively on one thing: dive watches. Its founder, Charles Von Buren, was passionate about the underwater world and everything diving entails. In that same spirit, the manufacture unveils its latest automatic timepiece - the Super-Squale Sunray Grey Leather SUPERSSG.PG. Built around a 316L stainless steel case - the gold standard in watchmaking steel - with a 38 mm diameter and just 12 mm thickness, this is a watch that will suit any wrist. A stunning "brushed" finish reinforces its "explorer's watch" character. As befits any serious dive watch, it features a 316L stainless steel unidirectional rotating bezel with 120 clicks. The insert, with its circular brushed finish, is graduated over 60 minutes for timing dives. A luminescent dot set inside a reverse triangle marks the 0 position. Positioned at 3 o'clock, the winding crown lets you set the time of your choice. The case back is screwed down and decorated with the brand's logo, along with key technical specifications including the watch's 20 ATM water resistance.
The dial showcases a beautiful combination of textured and sunray finishing, producing subtle, captivating light reflections. Its grey color integrates seamlessly with the case. The circular hour markers are filled with SuperLuminova Old Radium, a cream-colored luminescent material that evokes the charm of vintage watches. The markers at 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, 9 o'clock, and 12 o'clock feature a trapezoidal shape, crafted in polished stainless steel and also filled with SuperLuminova Old Radium. The hour and minute hands, of the "sword" type, are in polished stainless steel and also feature luminescent material. The seconds hand sports the iconic "lollipop" design - a hallmark of dive watches. Swiss origin is confirmed at 6 o'clock with the "Swiss made" inscription. Just above, you'll find the collection logo and the watch's water resistance rating. To finish, Squale signs the dial at 12 o'clock with its name and logo.
This timepiece is powered by a celebrated Swiss caliber renowned for its reliability and precision: the SW 200-1 (26 jewels) by Sellita. Regulated at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour - 4 Hz - it delivers a power reserve of 38 hours. In its "Elaborée" finish, it achieves a maximum daily deviation of -7/+7 seconds per day - an excellent result for an automatic movement. A hacking seconds mechanism allows for precise time-setting. You can also manually wind the movement via the winding crown.
Made in Italy, a beautiful grey leather strap completes this watch. Elegant cream-colored stitching runs along its length, subtly echoing the markers and hands. A pin buckle clasp in polished stainless steel secures the strap. The lug width measures 18 mm.
With a water resistance of 20 atmospheres - equivalent to 200 meters - this model qualifies without hesitation as a true dive watch. Our watchmaking experts agree: while it's more than capable for showering, bathing, swimming laps, freediving, or recreational scuba diving, it is not designed for extreme deep-water diving where pressure would ultimately overcome its water resistance. For professional divers pushing depth limits, we recommend models rated at 30 atmospheres or more. We also advise against operating the pushers or crown while in the water to maintain a perfect seal.
