Nivada Grenchen was among the first manufacturers to produce automatic watches in the 1930s, but it was undoubtedly the Antarctic - the first waterproof automatic watch - that put the brand on the map in 1950. Since then, the brand has earned its reputation for performance and reliability in the harshest Antarctic conditions, standing up to extreme temperature shifts and humidity. Robust, shock-resistant, and antimagnetic. The case of this 32026A model, crafted in 316L stainless steel, features a round shape with a brushed and polished finish. Perfectly proportioned for men's wrists, it measures 38 mm in diameter and 12 mm thick. Fitted with a stainless steel bezel, it frames a double domed sapphire crystal on both sides - adding a touch of elegance while maximizing legibility. A crown positioned at 3 o'clock handles all your adjustments. Finally, the caseback of this "Super Antarctic" ensures water resistance to 10 ATM.
The subtle elegance of the indices takes center stage on a dial featuring an intensely matte black finish. That matte surface amplifies the contrast at the edges, making the watch effortlessly readable. A minute track runs along the perimeter, enhancing precision at a glance. The hands make a bold statement: a Mercedes-style hand marks the hours, a sword-shaped hand tracks the minutes, and the seconds hand keeps its classic slender profile. All three point to geometrically shaped indices - triangular at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock, and baton-shaped elsewhere. You'll notice the markers glow green - that's a Super-LumiNova coating that turns luminescent in low light, keeping the time visible even in total darkness. True to tradition, the brand places its signature at 12 o'clock and its collection name at 6 o'clock.
This model is powered by a premium Soprod automatic movement. Swiss-made, this mechanism delivers flawless accuracy to the hour, minute, and seconds hands. Caliber P024 also features a shock absorber for the balance wheel, protecting it from damage during sudden movements. This movement guarantees a power reserve of 38 hours.
To complete the look, this model pairs with a black leather strap with white stitching or a black rubber strap. The full-grain cowhide lends a warm, refined touch that frames the wrist beautifully. Built to last, this durable strap is crafted for long-term wear. With a 20 mm lug width, it slips on easily and fastens securely with a silver pin buckle.
With a water resistance of 100 meters, or 10 ATM in our beloved watchmaking language, this proud timepiece holds its own from black-tie galas to open water. You can wear it in the shower, the bath, or the pool - even during an intense swim. Keep in mind, however, that our watchmaking experts advise this model is not designed for scuba or freediving, nor for use with high-pressure cleaning equipment. Remember: shower, bath, and swimming only - and never operate the pushers or crown while submerged.
