Le Jour is a historic Swiss mechanical watchmaker renowned for its impressive expertise. Honoring its proud heritage, the brand revives sport-inspired models rooted in automotive and rally culture. Enter the Roadster LJ-RD-001 - a captivating sport chronograph, bolder and more dynamic than ever. Its tonneau case masterfully combines a striking design with elegant aesthetics and premium build quality. With a diameter of 42 mm, a thickness of 15.50 mm, and a length of 49 mm, this case makes a confident statement on the wrist. Crafted in 316L stainless steel, it delivers maximum corrosion resistance without sacrificing style. Silver-toned, it is elevated by a refined brushed finish and a mirror-polished effect on the beveled lug edges, adding an extra touch of sophistication. This model features a fixed bezel in brushed stainless steel, marked with a tachymeter scale in a dark black IP coating. It surrounds a flat sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment, providing an optimal view of the dial along with excellent scratch resistance. At three o'clock sits the knurled, signed crown, which is screwed down for enhanced water resistance, allowing adjustment of the hands, date, and day. It is flanked by two knurled pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock that control the chronograph function. On the caseback, the screwed-down case back features a transparent display window and an engraved border with the timepiece's specifications. This caseback ensures a water resistance of 20 ATM.
The dial of this watch draws inspiration from the world of motorsport. It features a black base enhanced by a sunray effect that catches the light with captivating shimmer, adding extra depth to the design. The dial is accented with red highlights, bringing a vibrant pop of color. It is framed by a black rehaut with a red-colored quarter section and features a detailed, finely finished minute track. The hour markers consist of Arabic numerals styled as two-digit racing numbers - a nod to the motorsport theme - along with triangular indexes at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock. These markers are treated with Swiss Super-LumiNova Grade C3 for optimal legibility in low-light conditions. The same material is applied to the brushed baton hands, which are half skeletonized. They are joined by a dedicated chronograph seconds hand for precise timekeeping. The chronograph function is displayed via two counters: positioned at 6 and 12 o'clock, they feature a snailed finish framed by red-accented rings and indicate 12 hours and 30 minutes respectively. A third counter at 9 o'clock displays small seconds on a simplified subdial. On the opposite side, two rectangular silver-toned windows show the day and date on a white background. Above these windows sits the brand name, while below it the inscriptions "Chronograph" and "Automatic" are printed. Finally, the brand confirms the timepiece's origin with "Swiss Made" inscribed on either side of the 6 o'clock index.
This model is powered by a Swiss automatic movement. The Sellita SW500 caliber, equipped with 25 jewels, is reliable and precise, based on the ETA 7750. It beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 56 to 62 hours. Renowned for its robustness, this movement efficiently drives all central complications.
This watch comes with two straps measuring 22 mm in lug width, offering versatile styling options.
The first strap, crafted in 316L stainless steel, features 5 rows of links for optimal comfort. It is elegantly finished with a combination of brushed and polished surfaces that highlight its silver tone. This strap is fitted with a deployment clasp for a secure fit.
The second strap, crafted in Cordura® nylon, combines durability and comfort. Its black colorway pairs seamlessly with the case, adding a sporty edge to the overall look. It is secured by a steel pin buckle that underscores its clean, flexible design.
This model offers a water resistance of 20 atmospheres, or 200 meters. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a watch built to keep up with your deep-water adventures! Designed for freediving, it laughs in the face of water - you can even use a pressure washer with this timepiece on your wrist. Showering, bathing, lap swimming, and freediving are all fair game. That said, for scuba diving with tanks, we recommend a timepiece with a higher water resistance rating. Also, avoid operating the crown or pushers while submerged to protect the movement's integrity.
