Yema is an iconic French watch brand celebrated for its expertise and innovative spirit. By seamlessly blending tradition with modernity, the brand produces timepieces that combine reliable movements with durable materials - captivating watch enthusiasts with designs that are both functional and stylish. The Racing School presented here carries on the tradition of Yema dual-subdial chronographs. This special edition belongs to the Rallygraf collection and pays homage to the Lotus Formula 1 single-seaters of the 1970s and 1980s. Designed for men, it features a round case crafted from polished 316L stainless steel, measuring 40 mm in diameter with an 11 mm thickness. It's fitted with a fixed bezel in matte aluminum in a black tone, engraved with a tachymeter scale for calculating average speed over a given distance. A K1 double-dome mineral crystal, 2 mm thick, sits above the case. The various indicators can be adjusted via the crown and two pushers positioned at 2, 3, and 4 o'clock. Finally, this timepiece features a screwed and engraved caseback ensuring water resistance of 10 ATM.
This round dial boasts a sporty design that instantly draws the eye. Set against a black background with a matte finish, its aesthetic is effortlessly bold. The center is fitted with stick hands for hours and minutes, while a gold-toned seconds hand tracks the chronograph seconds. Both the hands and their corresponding indexes are treated with Super-LumiNova BGW9 for enhanced visibility in low light. A minute track runs along the outer edge of the dial to complete the timekeeping layout. Taking inspiration from racing car dashboards, two subdials at 3 and 9 o'clock offer 24-hour and 60-minute functions respectively. The 6 o'clock index is replaced by a date window, and two checkered flags on the dial pay tribute to the world of motorsport and grand prix racing. The brand's signature appears at 12 o'clock.
This watch is powered by a meca-quartz movement of Japanese origin - specifically the Seiko VK64 caliber, which vibrates at a frequency of 32,768 vibrations per hour. It reliably and precisely drives the hours, minutes, date, and subdials. This mechanism features a stop-seconds function and runs on a battery with a 3-year power reserve.
This stunning strap is crafted from black bovine leather that is both grained and perforated, allowing the wrist to breathe. Its elegant design makes it a versatile match for any style. The strap features a 20 mm lug width and fastens with a pin buckle.
This model offers a water resistance of 10 atmospheres, or 100 meters - making it a genuinely water-resistant timepiece. It's ready to join you in any aquatic adventure, from puddles to the pool. Showers, baths, and recreational swimming? No problem. That said, watchmaking experts strongly advise against using this watch for diving (professional or otherwise) and recommend keeping it away from high-pressure cleaning equipment. It's also best not to operate the crown or pushers while submerged.
