Hailing from Besançon, watchmaker LIP was founded in 1867 by Emmanuel Lipmann. The brand has always had a deep passion for motorsport and delivers high-quality timepieces with undeniable innovation. It now presents the Rallye 671821 - a reissue of a legendary 1970s chronograph paying tribute to iconic vehicles. Inspired by the automotive world, this watch features a classic round case crafted in shiny, silver stainless steel for lasting strength and durability. Its substantial case measures 42 mm in diameter, making it an easy fit for any men's wrist. It houses a domed sapphire crystal reminiscent of vintage pilot watches. The notched crown at 3 o'clock handles hour, minute, and date adjustments, flanked by two pump-style pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock for chronograph operation. The screw-down caseback ensures water resistance to 5 ATM.
One of a kind and inspired by the interior lines of iconic cars, the dial is the true soul of this watch. Finished in matte, it has the bold look of a dashboard. With a two-tone background, the outer ring features a tachymeter scale and a minute track, whose graduation layout pays tribute to motorsport racing circuits. This bezel is enhanced by two-tone indexes set opposite luminous baton hour markers applied to the lower blue surface. Except for the seconds hand, the sword-style hands are coated with a luminescent treatment for clear legibility in low-light conditions. The dial is further complemented by two beautifully executed sub-dials. With a blue background and white markers, the sub-dial at 3 o'clock displays small seconds while the one at 9 o'clock tracks the 30-minute chronograph counter. A date window at 3 o'clock with a white background adds a practical touch. To finish, the brand signs its name below 12 o'clock and inscribes "Rallye," "Chronographe," and "Automatique" at 6 o'clock.
This model is powered by a Japanese-made automatic movement - robust, accurate, and dependable. It runs on the Seiko NE86 caliber, equipped with 34 jewels and beating at 28,800 vph, driving the central hands with precision. It offers a solid 45-hour power reserve.
This watch comes fitted with a cowhide leather strap in brown, beautifully accented by white contrast stitching. Perforated, it channels a rally spirit that gives the watch a chic, retro character true to the model's origins. It features a 20 mm lug width and fastens with a chrome deployant clasp for a refined finishing touch.
With water resistance to 50 meters - or 5 ATM in standard watchmaking terms - this timepiece can handle splashes but isn't built for prolonged water exposure. You can wear it in the shower on occasion, but to preserve the movement's quality and accuracy, our watch specialists strongly advise keeping it away from baths, pools, and the sea. In short: no swimming, no diving, and no extended contact with water.
