Since 1918, Swiss watchmaker Mido - rooted in the Jura region - has delivered timepieces of exceptional quality and authentic craftsmanship. Today, the brand proudly presents the M026.629.17.051.00 from the Ocean Star GMT collection. Inspired by the ocean's depths, this timepiece appeals to men who appreciate a sporty, on-trend aesthetic. The stainless steel case measures 44 millimeters in diameter with a thickness of 13.30 millimeters. A ceramic bezel houses the crown at three o'clock, making it easy to set your watch. A highly durable sapphire crystal protects the dial from the knocks and scratches of daily life, and has been treated with double-sided anti-reflective coating for optimal readability. Finally, the screw-down caseback delivers water resistance to 20 atmospheres, or 200 meters.
The dial on this watch plunges you into the ocean's depths with its intense black hue. It houses two bold luminescent hands that keep you on time day and night. Two additional arrow-shaped hands indicate the seconds and the GMT function your timepiece offers. Around the dial, a minute track ensures precise timekeeping, while Arabic numerals mark the 24-hour scale. The hour markers are rendered as thick luminescent batons, visible even in low-light conditions. Just below 12 o'clock, the brand's signature is displayed alongside the "Automatic" designation. The collection name appears at 6 o'clock.
At the heart of this case beats a Swiss-made automatic movement. Mido itself manufactured this caliber 80, based on the acclaimed ETA C07.661 caliber. It displays hours, minutes, seconds, GMT, and the date - all backed by an impressive 80-hour power reserve.
A blue fabric strap keeps the watch securely on your wrist through any activity. It fastens with a pin buckle that molds perfectly to your wrist. The 22-millimeter lug width ensures a secure, comfortable fit.
This model is water-resistant to 20 atmospheres, or 200 meters - making it a true companion for deep-water activities. Built for freediving, it handles high-pressure washers without breaking a sweat. Showering, bathing, lap swimming, and freediving are all fair game. That said, for scuba diving with tanks, we recommend a timepiece with a higher water-resistance rating. Also, avoid operating the crown or pushers while submerged to protect the movement's integrity.
