Junghans delivers exceptional quality and remarkable design through its Max Bill collection. Inspired by the Bauhaus movement - where function shapes form - this timepiece offers clean, elegant, and truly timeless lines. Its round stainless steel case features a refined 38 mm diameter and 9.7 mm thickness, perfectly suited to the watch's understated elegance. The steel case has a sandblasted finish and is topped with a double-sided anti-reflective domed sapphire crystal. The caseback, secured by four screws, features a stylized rendering of the iconic Bauhaus building in Dessau, with the automatic movement visible through the building's windows.
The porcelain-white matte dial is a perfect match for this watch, and the case's generous aperture makes it the star of your wrist. Delicate light-gray printed indices dot the dial, offering an elegant contrast. The longer markers indicate the hours; the shorter ones, the minutes. Luminous dots at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock aid legibility in low light. The baton-style hands match the dial's gray inscriptions, while the hour and minute hands feature a touch of red - a nod to the iconic red entrance door of the historic Bauhaus building in Dessau. The date display at 3 o'clock appears in red on a white background, echoing the hands beautifully. The dial is completed by "Junghans" and "automatic" inscriptions at 12 o'clock, and "made in Germany" at 6 o'clock along the outer edge.
The watch is powered by an automatic movement Junghans calls the J800.1 - the German brand's designation for the Swiss ETA 2824 movement, a favorite among watch enthusiasts for its legendary reliability and performance. It offers a 38-hour power reserve, beats at 4 Hz, and displays hours, minutes, seconds, and the date.
Perfectly matched to the watch, the black calfskin leather strap ensures all-day comfort. A stainless steel tang buckle - engraved with the brand name - keeps the watch securely on your wrist.
With a water resistance of 3 atmospheres (30 meters), this watch is not designed for aquatic use. You can wear it while washing your hands or doing light household tasks involving water, but the Ocarat team strongly recommends leaving it on the nightstand before a shower or bath - and in the hotel safe before a swim or dive. Leather straps are also not suited for water immersion, which accelerates wear and causes rapid deterioration.
