Watch
This legendary timepiece is one of the defining symbols of mountaineering. Advertisements from 1959 stated that 9 out of 10 elite mountaineers chose this watch for its ruggedness and remarkable resistance to the elements and shocks. It was born from a conversation between Fred Lip - a passionate mountain enthusiast - and his friend Lionel Terray, a high-altitude guide. The watch gained fame when Fred Lip's friend Maurice Herzog became the first climber to summit Annapurna, wearing the Himalaya model. Its identity is drawn from the mountain range that shelters the world's highest peak. With its 40mm silver stainless steel case, this model is designed for men. The non-screwed crown sits at 3 o'clock. A mineral crystal protects the dial, and the screw-down case back ensures superior resistance. It's worth noting that this timepiece has deep ties to sport - it was historically awarded to the best daily stage winner of the Tour de France.
Dial
A beautiful round dial with a silver-toned background. The 12, 9, and 3 o'clock positions are marked with silver Arabic numerals, while the remaining hours feature matching silver indices. The dauphine hands are also silver. Note that the seconds hand is off-center, displayed in a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock. The beveled indices add brilliance to the dial. At 12 o'clock, you'll find the watchmaker's name alongside the collection name.
Movement
An analog quartz movement sits inside the case, displaying hours, minutes, and seconds.
Strap
A beautiful light brown smooth leather strap attaches to the case, secured by a chromed pin buckle for easy length adjustment.
Water Resistance
This model offers water resistance of 5 atmospheres, or 50m - built to impress and shine in any social setting. But that elegance doesn't come at the cost of resilience. You can keep it on in the shower, though the Ocarat team recommends leaving it by the sink to preserve its brilliance and integrity over time. For swimming and diving, we strongly advise against wearing this watch to avoid damage and potential repair costs.
