The Watch

Ramon Cuervo and his nephews, the Sobrinos, founded their watchmaking brand under the name Cuervo y Sobrinos. Of Cuban origin, the brand is celebrated for its extraordinary timepieces that blend tradition with modernity, fusing European luxury with a Latin spirit to craft truly exceptional watches. Introducing the Historiador Hemingway Ionico 3190.1ICB, created to mark the Hemingway Days 2023 - a limited edition tribute to the brand's most loyal client and one of the 20th century's greatest writers, Ernest Hemingway. Vintage in spirit, its case features a round shape with a 40 mm diameter and 11.75 mm thickness, elegantly crafted to adorn men's wrists with distinction. Showcasing ergonomic elongated lugs, it is meticulously fashioned in polished stainless steel, giving it undeniable brilliance and durability. The silver-toned case is fitted with a double-domed sapphire crystal that shields the dial from impacts. Treated with an anti-reflective coating, it ensures crisp, clear time reading. A grey, grooved and screwed-down crown sits at 3 o'clock, allowing easy manipulation of the central hands. Finally, the watch features a screw-down caseback engraved with the Hemingway logo, ensuring water resistance of 10 ATM.

The Dial

Elegant and captivating, this dial will naturally elevate your look. Crafted with care, it delivers a truly enjoyable time-reading experience. Inscribed along the bezel with the words "Pour écrire sur la vie, il faut d'abord la vivre" - in English at 12 o'clock and in Spanish at 6 o'clock - it features a rich brown tone and a variety of markers for easy timekeeping. The bezel displays Arabic numerals from 1 to 31 to indicate the date of the current month via a red hand. This is complemented by two syringe-style hands in a rosy hue, alongside a slender white seconds hand that tracks elapsed seconds. The shorter hand indicates the hours while the longer one marks the minutes. Both hands, as well as the large Arabic hour numerals, feature a Super-LumiNova treatment for enhanced legibility in low-light conditions. The minute track encircles them, rendered in a rosy tone and followed by small red Arabic numerals displayed every 5 units on a scale of 60. As a tribute to its loyal client and writer, the brand places "Ernest Hemingway" at 6 o'clock alongside the Swiss Made label - a mark of undeniable reliability. The brand's name is signed beneath 12 o'clock as its signature.

The Movement

This watch is equipped with an automatic movement manufactured in-house. Specifically, it features the CYS 8121 caliber based on a Sellita 221-1. Reliable and robust, it delivers exceptional accuracy for both the hands and the date display. It beats at a frequency of 28,800 A/h and features 26 jewels to minimize friction. Its power reserve is 38 hours.

This model offers water resistance of 10 atmospheres, equivalent to 100 meters. This is a genuinely water-resistant timepiece! Its easygoing style means it's ready to join you on any aquatic adventure. From puddles to the swimming pool, this watch handles immersion without complaint. Showers, baths, and lap swimming? No problem. That said, our Ocarat watch experts want you to know that while this model is water-resistant, it is not suited for diving (professional or recreational) and should be kept away from high-pressure cleaning equipment. We also recommend against using the crown or pushers while the watch is submerged.
