The Watch

To mark the 80th anniversary of the Big Crown, the brand launched a special edition in bronze with a striking green dial. Originally conceived for pilots, this timepiece translates effortlessly across all styles. It stands out with an oversized crown and Pointer Calendar function - a true icon of the brand and a testament to its authenticity. Without this model, Oris would not be the leader it is in Swiss Made mechanical watches. With its 40 mm bronze case, the Big Crown Pointer Date 80th strikes the perfect balance between refinement and presence. Oris pairs it with a sapphire crystal, crafted from aluminum oxide crystallized at extreme temperatures - an exceptionally hard material that resists shocks and scratches alike. The oversized crown, originally designed so pilots could adjust the watch even with gloves on, remains a defining feature. Every detail is intentional: the crown at 3 o'clock is easy to operate, making it simple to set your timepiece exactly as you need it.

The Dial
Oris pairs this prestigious watch with a round dial featuring a green background, adding a distinctive touch to the model. Two cathedral hands grace the dial, their geometric shape echoing the stained-glass windows of historic churches - they indicate the hours and minutes. The seconds hand subtly sets itself apart, delivering precise second-by-second timekeeping. Arabic numerals mark every hour, while a minute railroad track runs along the outer edge of the dial for exact time reading. Not content with a watch that simply tells the time, Oris added a date function via its "pointer" hand - with Arabic numerals also on the dial to display the current date. Powered by an automatic movement, Oris inscribed "Big Crown Automatic" on the dial near 6 o'clock. The Swiss Made designation also appears at 6 o'clock. Finally, the watchmaker signs its work at 12 o'clock in capital letters.

The Movement
This timepiece is powered by a needle-wound automatic movement developed in-house. It runs on the Oris Caliber 754, built on a SW 200-1 base, featuring 26 jewels. The winding is also automatic, with a bi-directional red rotor. Power reserve stands at 38 hours. The movement beats at 28,800 vph (4 Hz).

The Strap
Oris pairs the dial with a dark brown leather strap - a deliberate choice that reflects the brand's commitment to blending modernity with elegance. The green dial and brown strap complement each other perfectly, making this timepiece a versatile fit for any style. The watch is finished with a bronze buckle.

Water Resistance
With a water resistance of 50 meters (5 ATM in standard watchmaking terms), this timepiece can handle everyday splashes - but it's not built for prolonged water exposure. You can wear it in the shower occasionally, but to preserve the quality and accuracy of the movement, our watch specialists strongly advise keeping it away from baths, pools, and the sea. In short: no swimming, no diving, and no extended contact with water.
