The Watch

Avi-8 is a watchmaking brand whose designs draw inspiration from British aviation. The brand channels the history, heroism, and engineering of aeronautics and its iconic figures to craft timepieces with a truly distinctive design and technique. It presents the Spitfire Lock Chronograph AV-4089-05 watch, inspired by the remarkable achievements of Eric Lock. It comes housed in a perfectly round case crafted in silver-tone stainless steel with a satin finish. Meticulously finished, it measures 42 mm in diameter and 13 mm in thickness. A domed mineral crystal with anti-reflective treatment sits above the case middle, protecting the dial from scratches while ensuring a clear read. At 3 o'clock, a neatly crafted knurled crown allows for easy manipulation. It is flanked by two polished pushers for operating the chronograph. The whole is secured by a screw-down caseback guaranteeing 5 ATM water resistance.

The Dial

Beautifully laid out, the dial of this watch showcases a refined aesthetic. It features a white, matte finish with black markers for excellent legibility. Readability is further enhanced by the Swiss Newlite treatment applied to the hour and minute hands and the indices. The indices take the form of batons and bold black Arabic numerals. Everything is framed by a detailed minute track with a red triangle at 12 o'clock for easy orientation. For added functionality, a round red date window at 6 o'clock displays the date and is rimmed with the movement type indication. These red accents also appear on the chronograph seconds hand and the small hands of the subdials. Positioned at 3 and 9 o'clock, these counters display the 24-hour indicator and small seconds, respectively, each set within a circle framed by a black minute track. Finally, the brand's name appears below 12 o'clock as a mark of authenticity, while water resistance information is noted above 6 o'clock.

The Movement

This model is powered by a Japanese-made meca-quartz movement. Built to last, it delivers reliable timekeeping with an analog display, a chronograph function, and a precise date calendar.

The Strap

The strap on this watch is crafted in brown bovine leather and elevated with beige contrast stitching. Flexible and comfortable, it measures 22 mm wide at the lug and fastens with a silver-tone pin buckle for a secure fit.

Water Resistance

With 50 meters of water resistance, or 5 ATM in standard watchmaking terms, this timepiece can handle the occasional splash but isn't designed for prolonged water exposure. You can wear it in the shower from time to time, but to preserve the quality and precision of the movement, our watch specialists strongly advise keeping it away from the H2O found in the bath, pool, or ocean. In short: no swimming, no diving, and no extended contact or immersion.
