The Watch

For over 141 years, Japanese manufacture Seiko has been crafting watches of exceptional quality, imbued with the Japanese spirit - a genuine mastery of craft and a poetry rooted in nature. Every creation invites you to explore the Japanese archipelago, from its urban landscapes to its natural wonders. Now, Seiko presents its latest achievement: the SRPJ45K1 Seiko 5 Sports watch. This piece pays homage to the Seiko 7015-6010 Time Sonar from the 1970s, reviving its iconic dial design. This modern reinterpretation features a round stainless steel case with the signature Seiko 5 shape. At 42.5 mm in diameter and 13.40 mm thick, it's a watch with a distinctly masculine orientation. Notice the refined finishing, alternating between beveled edges, polished and brushed facets. A stunning 120-click unidirectional bezel graduated for 60 minutes is present, featuring a turquoise blue section from 0 to 20 minutes and black for the rest - a useful tool for timing intervals by aligning the triangle with the minute hand. A domed Hardlex crystal provides effective protection against shocks. The crown, used to set the time, date, and day, is set at 4 o'clock. Flip this vintage-inspired timepiece over to reveal a screw-down, fully transparent caseback offering a view of the movement within.

The Dial

The real star of this watch is undoubtedly its dial. Its blue hue features a semi-transparent finish that lets you glimpse the date disc in Arabic numerals, as well as the day disc in English and French (non-contractual photo). The hour indices are white circular dots framed in stainless steel. Note that the indices at 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock have a rounded rectangle shape, while the 12 o'clock index is a downward-pointing triangle. All indices are treated with luminescent material - Seiko's Lumibrite - allowing time to be read in low-light conditions. The seconds hand features a "reverse lollipop" look in orange, named after the small white dot at its base acting as a running indicator. A day-date window is positioned at 3 o'clock. Below the hands, the word "Automatic" confirms the caliber type. Finally, the Japanese house authenticates this watch at 12 o'clock with its name and the Seiko 5 logo.

The Movement

This Seiko watch is powered by the Seiko 4R36 automatic manufacture movement - battery-free, driven purely by the motion of your wrist. It delivers a generous power reserve of 41 hours, keeping pace with all your activities. Beating at 21,600 vph, it produces a beautifully fluid sweep of the seconds hand at 6 ticks per second. Daily accuracy is highly respectable at -35/+45 sec. per day. The movement also features a hacking seconds function, manual winding, and quick-set date.

This watch wears a rugged 3-link brushed stainless steel bracelet that conforms naturally to your wrist. The push-button deployant clasp offers both ease of use and security, while an integrated micro-adjustment system ensures a perfect fit every time.

Water Resistance

This watch offers water resistance of 10 atmospheres, or 100 meters - a genuinely water-resistant timepiece. Ready to make a splash, it handles anything from puddles to the pool without complaint. Shower, bath, and sport swimming are all fair game. That said, our Ocarat watch experts want you to know that this model, while water resistant, is not suitable for diving (recreational or professional) and should not be used near high-pressure cleaning equipment. We also recommend keeping the crown and pushers dry while submerged.
