Medal in 750/1000 Yellow Gold (18K) depicting Saint Bernadette in Ecstasy. This medal features two distinct finishes. First, a polished finish on the background of the medal adds brilliance and radiance. Second, a satin finish applied to Saint Bernadette sets her apart from the polished background.
Born in 1844 in Lourdes (Pyrénées) into an impoverished family, Bernadette Soubirous was tending sheep and gathering wood with her sister along a mountain stream when the Virgin Mary appeared and spoke to her. A miraculous spring then rose from that very spot. From that moment on, Bernadette became the Virgin Mary's confidante, receiving messages meant for the world as well as more personal words. She would go on to witness eighteen apparitions in the grotto of Massabielle, drawing ever-growing crowds. At the final apparition, the Virgin reportedly revealed herself as "the Immaculate Conception." At twenty-two, Bernadette entered the convent of the Sisters of Charity, where life proved especially harsh and demanding. She died in Nevers at the age of thirty-five. Today, Lourdes stands as one of Christianity's foremost pilgrimage sites and places of miracles.
She is depicted as a shepherdess holding a candle before the statue of the Virgin Mary. Her feast day is February 18.
The perfect gift for a birth, baptism, or first communion.
Oval bail. Diameter: 15 mm. Average gold weight: 2.30 grams.
You can have a personalized message engraved on the back of the medal.
