Seiko is a luxury watch brand founded in Japan in 1881. It crafts cutting-edge timepieces celebrated worldwide for their style and performance. Combining ultra-sophisticated movements with trend-forward aesthetics and meticulous attention to detail, Seiko's creations are in a class of their own. In the 1960s, Seiko made its mark on the international sports timing scene with a groundbreaking generation of high-precision equipment known as the Prospex Speedtimer. Today, the brand revisits this icon - a tribute to its professional timing heritage. Launched under reference SSC943P1, this watch blends modern technology with retro-inspired aesthetics. It comes in a round case crafted from solid, durable stainless steel. Silver-toned, it features a brushed finish on the surfaces and a polished effect on the flanks for a sophisticated, timeless look. With a diameter of 41.40 mm and a thickness of 13 mm, its proportions are perfectly calibrated for a comfortable, practical wear. The perfectly round bezel features a green insert engraved with a tachymeter scale for increased functionality and visibility. Unidirectional, it surrounds a domed sapphire crystal that adds presence and a much-loved vintage aesthetic. Protecting the dial from scratches, it is anti-reflective treated for outstanding readability. On the right side, the knurled crown handles time, minute, and date adjustments, flanked by carefully brushed pushbuttons to operate the chronograph. The whole package is rounded out by a screw-down caseback promising 10 ATM water resistance.
The dial delivers a visually pleasing timekeeping experience. Its beautiful beige hue is enhanced by a sunray effect, making every indicator easy to read. It is framed by a black rehaut featuring a minute track and silver baton markers for a harmonious contrast. The hour markers are oversized baton indexes treated with Lumibrite for enhanced legibility in dark conditions. The elegant black hour and minute hands are also filled with creamy Lumibrite, striking a beautiful balance with all the markers - except for the slender seconds hand. This beige tone is echoed on the three subdials in navy blue at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, displaying respectively 24-hour time, 60-minute chronograph, and small seconds. The slightly smaller subdial at 6 o'clock also serves as a power reserve indicator, with "E" for empty and "F" for fully charged - and houses the solar cells that charge the watch. Just past the 4 o'clock marker, a date window adds precision for the day of the month. The finishing touch is the brand's signature, elegantly displayed at 12 o'clock with its logo in black.
This model is powered by a solar quartz movement of Swiss manufacture - specifically the V192 caliber, delivering indisputable performance and an impressive accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. It offers a power reserve of six months, and when the charge runs low, the seconds hand begins jumping every two seconds as a warning. Powered by any light source, it provides reliable analog display, a date function, and a chronograph complication.
The strap on this watch is exceptionally comfortable. Crafted in black bovine leather with green contrast stitching and a micro-perforated finish, it leans into a vintage aesthetic. Measuring 21 mm at the lug width, it comes fitted with a simple deployment clasp with solid pushbuttons, so your watch stays securely on your wrist at all times.
This model offers a water resistance of 10 atmospheres, or 100 meters - and it means business. Ready to take on any aquatic adventure with you, from puddles to the pool, this timepiece handles water without complaint. Showers, baths, and lap swimming are all fair game. That said, Ocarat's watch experts note that despite its water resistance, this model is not suited for diving (recreational or professional) and should be kept away from high-pressure cleaning equipment. We also recommend avoiding use of the crown or pushbuttons while the watch is submerged.
