The Watch
Housed in a stainless steel case measuring 45 millimeters in diameter, this special edition was developed by Seiko in partnership with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) and delivers every hallmark of a top-tier dive watch. Since Seiko produced its first dive watch in 1965, the great thermohaline circulation of the world's ocean currents has flowed on unchanged - but watchmaking has never stood still. This model brings together the finest technical advances and exceptional craftsmanship, including a Hardlex crystal over the case and a screwed, engraved case back for maximum water resistance. A signature feature of any serious diver, the unidirectional stainless steel bezel with a blue and red carbon titanium coating lets you track immersion time at a glance - making decompression stops effortless. Choose this model, a worthy heir to the Seiko Pepsi 6309: an exceptional dive watch that wears your passion for the deep and champions Seiko's commitment to protecting the ocean alongside PADI.
The Dial
Nautically inspired, this dial sports the iconic color of deep-sea diving: a rich, deep blue with shimmering reflections reminiscent of light playing over shallow reefs. The hours are marked by circular and polyhedral indexes coated in Lumibrite - a luminescent paint that delivers enhanced brightness and extended performance for optimal visibility. The hour hand is elegantly shaped, while the minute hand takes the form of an arrow; the seconds hand features a black finish and, like its counterparts, is treated with Lumibrite. A white minute track runs along the dial's perimeter and, at 3 o'clock, is paired with a dual window displaying the day of the week and the date. The brand name appears at 12 o'clock, while the PADI association logo and technical references are displayed opposite at 6 o'clock.
The Movement
At the heart of this exceptional timepiece beats a Japanese-made automatic movement with manual winding. The 4R36 caliber - featuring 24 jewels - oscillates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and delivers a 41-hour power reserve, thanks to a mainspring crafted from Spron 510*, a proprietary material developed by Seiko using Spring Drive technology. This caliber offers hours, minutes, seconds, as well as date and day of the week (in French and English) via a dual window.
The Bracelet
On a dive watch, the bracelet is a critical component - it needs to be tough and built to last. The bracelet on this model is crafted in stainless steel and secures with a deployant clasp featuring push-buttons and a safety lock. The lug width is 22 millimeters.
Water Resistance
With a water resistance rating of 20 atmospheres - equivalent to 200 meters - this model is what our experts would confidently call a true dive watch. A word of caution on semantics, however: while this timepiece handles showers, baths, lap swimming, and freediving with ease, it is not designed for professional scuba diving, where tank pressure would ultimately compromise its seal. For professional divers, we recommend models rated at 30 atmospheres or more. We also advise against operating the pushers or crown while submerged, to maintain a perfect water-tight seal.
