The Watch

More than 30 years after its creation, discover the 2021 edition of the iconic Newport watch from Herbelin. Made in France, this 37688B42 model boasts a design deeply inspired by the portholes of transatlantic sailboats, lending it a bold, adventurous spirit. The case of this Newport Chronograph watch is crafted from 316L stainless steel in silver, topped by an imposing bezel with a brushed finish, signed Newport. A crown for setting the hands is positioned at three o'clock, adorned with a ship's wheel as a nod to its seafaring soul. On either side of the crown, two pushers operate the chronograph functions. The case is topped by a highly scratch- and shock-resistant sapphire crystal. The snap-on caseback is decorated with a beautiful ship's wheel alongside the brand and Newport collection signature. It delivers water resistance of 10 atmospheres - more than enough for aquatic environments!

The Dial

Herbelin opted for an elegant round dial in brushed white silver. The analog display is driven by two central hands in white and silver, indicating the hours and minutes. They are joined by a seconds hand serving the chronograph function. The elapsed time over 30 minutes, 60 seconds, and 1/10th-second increments can be read via the three counters positioned at three, six, and nine o'clock. Like the navy blue of its counters, the indices echo the watch's nautical design - shaped like tapered, silver boat-hull indices. A minute track runs alongside these nautical motifs for added precision. Finally, a date window is positioned between four and five o'clock. Herbelin signs its creation in black capital letters at twelve o'clock.

The Movement

This Newport model is powered by a Swiss-made quartz movement - specifically a Ronda 5040 D caliber, which drives every component of this watch with precision.

The Bracelet

On either side of the case, you'll find a bracelet in silver-toned stainless steel. Highly elegant, it features three rows of links with brushed-finish center links. It fastens with a deployant clasp in silver.

Water Resistance

This model offers water resistance of 10 atmospheres, or 100 meters. This watch is truly water-resistant! With its sporty, easygoing style, it's ready to dive into aquatic adventures with you. From puddles to the pool, this timepiece handles splashes, swimming, and everything in between without complaint. Showering, bathing, and lap swimming? No problem. That said, our Ocarat watchmaking experts note that while this model is water-resistant, it is not designed for diving (professional or otherwise) and should be kept away from high-pressure cleaning equipment. We also recommend avoiding use of the crown or pushers while submerged.
