French watchmaker Herbelin has been perfecting the art of horology since the 1940s. Today, the Maison introduces its latest creation: the Newport Carbon Titanium 1788CTN15CB automatic watch. It arrives in a stunning round case - a timeless silhouette that works on any wrist. With a diameter of 43mm and a thickness of 12.45mm, it sits comfortably on any men's wrist. The case is crafted entirely from forged carbon - an exclusive material produced through a unique machining process. Unlike standard woven carbon fiber, forged carbon is made by mixing carbon fragments with resin, resulting in an ultra-impact-resistant material. The bezel showcases this striking material, giving the watch undeniable character. 5 hex screws add a subtle nautical touch to the design, and the collection name, "Newport", appears at the bezel's base. The screw-down crown, positioned at 3 o'clock, features a ridged grip for easy handling. It sets the time, date, and day. The DLC titanium caseback is screw-down and fitted with a transparent display, letting you admire the movement that brings this timepiece to life.
Rendered in a breathtaking midnight blue, the dial's decoration evokes the seabed of Saint-Malo Bay - a subtle tribute to the starting city of the Route du Rhum race. The hour markers are shaped as trapezoids with luminescent treatment at their tips, their dark color echoing the case. A white minute track runs along the entire dial for precise timekeeping. The hour and minute hands feature a sword-style design in black, also filled with phosphorescent material for perfect legibility in low-light conditions. The seconds hand blazes in red, a striking contrast that perfectly captures the passage of time. A day-date window sits at 3 o'clock - the date appears in black on a red background, while the day is printed in black on a white disc. Beneath the hands, the case material - carbon - and the water resistance rating of 200m are displayed. At 6 o'clock, "Made in France" is proudly engraved. The brand dedicates this watch at 12 o'clock.
Powering this watch is the highly regarded Swiss automatic caliber SW220-1 (26 jewels) by Sellita. Its power reserve of 41 hours gives you plenty of freedom to take it wherever you go. Beating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), the oscillation frequency delivers a smooth sweep of the seconds hand - 8 beats per second. It also features a seconds stop function and a quick-set corrector for both the day and date.
Crafted from FKM elastomer, this blue strap is built to withstand the test of time. Its deployant clasp is made entirely from DLC-treated titanium for extra strength and durability.
This model is water resistant to 20 atmospheres, or 200 meters - built to follow you into the depths. Designed for freediving, it handles high-pressure washers at the wrist without breaking a sweat. Showering, bathing, lap swimming, and freediving are all fair game. That said, for scuba diving, our experts recommend a timepiece with a higher water resistance rating. Always avoid operating the crown or pushers while submerged to protect the movement's integrity.
