A pioneer and inventor of major technologies, Seiko is a company with a rich history dating back to 1881. It continually pushes the boundaries of the watchmaking industry, delivering innovative and remarkable timepieces with exceptional precision, quality craftsmanship, and timeless design. Always in obsessive pursuit of the best technologies, the brand creates high-performance pieces where quality and reliability are the driving forces. These values shine through in the Seiko 5 SRPK97K1, a versatile sports watch paying tribute to the classic Seiko Sports Style of 1969. It features a carefully crafted barrel-shaped case in stainless steel, built to keep up with you through anything. Silver-toned, it is elevated by an elegant alternation of polished and brushed finishes that lend it a sophisticated, timeless look. With a bold presence, it measures 42.50 mm in diameter and 14.20 mm in thickness, weighing 168 g - impressive dimensions that sit beautifully on men's wrists. Above, it is completed by a unidirectional, notched bezel fitted with a blue insert meticulously marked with a minute scale and a triangular marker at 12 o'clock. This surrounds a domed Hardlex crystal that adds a classic touch to the overall design. The right side of the case houses a notched, protected crown. Finely finished and polished, it allows adjustment of the hour and minute hands as well as the day and date. As for the case back, it is screw-down and features a transparent exhibition window offering a stunning view of the movement, along with a water resistance of 10 ATM.
Clean and easy to read, the dial amplifies the watch's appeal. Featuring silver baton indices, it strikes a harmonious contrast between its blue base and silver markers. Finely brushed, it is illuminated by a sunray effect that adds both aesthetic depth and sophistication. Paired with a classic minute railroad track, these indices are filled with Lumibrite, as are the large "diver" hour and minute hands. This luminescent coating ensures excellent legibility in low-light conditions and also appears on the arrowhead tip of the slim, silver seconds hand. A dual window framed in silver takes the place of the 3 o'clock index, displaying the day in English abbreviation and the date. Finally, the brand signs its name and logo beneath 12 o'clock and places the "Automatic" inscription directly opposite.
Powering this timepiece is the Japanese-made Seiko 4R36 caliber. It is a reliable automatic movement equipped with 24 jewels and a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. Durable and high-performing, it delivers a 41-hour power reserve and operates at a precision of +45/-35 seconds per day. This movement ensures the accurate operation of all core functions.
This watch is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet engineered for optimal comfort. Silver-toned, it is enhanced by a refined satin finish that gives it a timeless look. Measuring 22 mm in lug width, it features 3 rows of links for a perfect fit and a comfortable all-day wearing experience. Combining casual-chic style for any occasion, it fastens effortlessly with a deployant clasp featuring a security lock and push-button release.
With a water resistance of 100 meters - or 10 ATM in watchmaking terms - this bold timepiece is equally at home at a black-tie event and in the water. You can confidently wear it in the shower, the bath, or while swimming (even at a vigorous pace!). That said, our team of watch experts wants to be clear: this model is not designed for scuba diving, freediving, or the use of high-pressure washers. Remember: shower, bath, and swimming only - and never operate the pushers or crown while submerged.
