Junghans began its story in Schramberg in 1861 and has since become one of Germany's most iconic watchmaking maisons. The house is celebrated for its interpretation of the Bauhaus artistic movement of the 1920s, championing clean geometric lines. True to this philosophy, Junghans is proud to introduce its latest creation: the Meister Chronoscope English Date watch. It features a stainless steel case with a refined diameter of 40.7 mm and a thickness of 13.9 mm - dimensions that reflect the brand's deliberate return to a "traditional" size, perfectly suited to every men's wrist. The bezel is kept deliberately slim to maximize the dial opening. In keeping with the philosophy that simplicity equals quality, the brand opted for a domed sapphire crystal for a heritage feel, with a double-sided anti-reflective coating for technical performance. At 2 o'clock, you'll find the pusher to start and pause the chronograph, while the one at 4 o'clock handles the reset. The crown, positioned at 3 o'clock, lets you set the time, date, and day of your choice - and also winds the movement manually. The caseback is transparent, offering a full view of the caliber powering this piece of jewelry.
Presented here is a stunning green dial evoking the fir trees of the Black Forest, the brand's home region. It features a circular satin finish that creates a captivating interplay of light - depending on the lighting, you'll discover different shades of green. The hour totalizer sub-dial is located at 6 o'clock, and the minute totalizer sits at 12 o'clock. The sub-dial at 3 o'clock displays the running seconds. Each of the hands on these sub-dials is gold-toned, creating a beautiful contrast with the dial's dominant color. The hour and minute hands are crafted in polished stainless steel in the classic "dauphine" shape, with a strip of luminescent material down their center for easy reading even at night. The central seconds hand is dedicated to the chronograph function, allowing you to measure time to the nearest second. The stainless steel stick indices share the same polished finish as the central hands. A subtle minute track runs around the entire dial for precise timekeeping. At 3 o'clock, you'll find a date window and a day window - available in either German or English, your choice! The brand signs its work just above these windows, with the collection name displayed below. Finally, proudly inscribed at 6 o'clock, you'll find the "Made in Germany" designation.
Powered by the Junghans J880.1 caliber, this timepiece is built on the renowned and highly reliable Swiss ETA-Valjoux 7750 movement - the true "workhorse" of watchmaking. It offers a chronograph complication for measuring elapsed time, along with a day and date display. It also features a generous 48-hour power reserve. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour - or 8 beats per second - it delivers an exceptionally smooth sweep of the seconds hand. The watch winds automatically via your wrist movements, and can also be manually wound through the crown at 3 o'clock. Finally, a stop-seconds mechanism is integrated so you can set the time with maximum precision.
Completing this watch is a beautiful café-au-lait ostrich leather strap. Fitted with a signed ardillon buckle bearing the maison's name, it fastens quickly and effortlessly. Multiple holes ensure a perfect fit for every wrist size.
With a water resistance of 5 atmospheres - equivalent to 50 meters - this watch offers a solid introduction to water resistance. While it's not designed for bathing, lap swimming, or scuba diving, you can confidently wear it in the shower without worry. That said, our experts recommend keeping this timepiece dry whenever possible to preserve its movement for years to come.
