The iconic Japanese brand Casio has made its mark across the globe with high-quality creations that masterfully blend durability, functionality, and aesthetics. Since launching its first watch in 1974, the brand has continued to captivate watch enthusiasts with trend-forward, innovative, and feature-rich timepieces designed for everyday wear and the most extreme conditions. Its G-Shock lineup stands out for its bold, sporty designs paired with cutting-edge technology and modern materials, producing ultra-rugged, high-performance field watches. Today, Casio unveils its extraordinary Juryoku-Maru: San MRG-B2000JS-1A watch, where tradition, innovation, and watchmaking converge. Inspired by the art of forging Japanese katana swords, this model channels the majestic beauty and strength of the Juryoku-Maru: San. The work of two exceptionally talented Japanese master craftsmen, it is an original sword commissioned by the brand for this stunning limited edition of 800 numbered pieces. The katana blade was forged by Kamiyama Teruhira, a young master swordsmith, while the blue aogai lacquer scabbard was crafted by traditional artisan Nomura Mamoru. Blending captivating artisanal elements, practical features, and a style that is both elegant and sporty, this special watch lets you express your individuality every day while keeping up with your every adventure in total reliability. It comes in an octagonal case crafted from Ti64 titanium that sits elegantly on the wrist and commands attention with its refined design. The case underwent Sallaz polishing with recrystallization and deep-layer hardening processes, then received blue-gray AIP® ion plating, lending it a unique, brilliant blue inspired by the sword's hue. Weighing 154 g, the case measures 49.80 mm in diameter, 54.70 mm in length, and 16.90 mm in thickness - dimensions perfectly suited to men's wrists. Featuring a Clad Guard structure, the case delivers absolute wearing comfort and proves shock-resistant as well as vibration-resistant. The dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that shields it from everyday shocks and scuffs. It features an anti-reflective coating for clear visibility at every angle. Bearing the "G-Shock" and "MR-G" markings, the surrounding bezel is crafted from recrystallized hybrid titanium, giving it an exquisite artistic design that evokes the distinctive temper pattern of the Juryoku-Maru: San sword blade. It is secured by four visible screws and features a DLC coating for enhanced abrasion resistance. A screw-lock crown and three pushers in chocolate gold are positioned on either side of the case, allowing you to set and operate all functions with ease. On the caseback, a four-screw case back ensures water resistance to 20 bar. It has been hand-engraved with "San" in kanji - the name of the sword, meaning brilliance. This engraving was carried out by Kamiyama using the same sword-forging technique, giving each piece a truly singular character. This watch will be delivered in a special presentation box, making it even more exceptional.
Featuring refined details inspired by the Katana and Japanese aesthetics, this striking round dial is the centerpiece of this special edition. It showcases a hishimaki-gara textured pattern drawing on the traditional diamond shapes found on the guard of the Juryoku-Maru: San. The perimeter is adorned with a decorative motif evoking the look of a folding fan, creating a bold visual effect. It houses twelve three-dimensional indices whose shape draws inspiration from the curve of a sword blade. These serve as hour markers and are surrounded by a minute track graduated with white lines, punctuated by Neobrite-filled rectangles for optimal legibility in the dark. This luminescent coating is also applied to the two hands at center. Indicating the hours and minutes, they are joined by a slender seconds hand distinguished by its chocolate color. In addition to its analog display, the dial houses three sub-dials for the remaining functions. The one at 3 o'clock shows the day of the week, the watch mode, and the DST setting. The sub-dial between 3 and 9 o'clock displays the hours and minutes of a second time zone, while the one slightly above provides the 24-hour function. A small sub-dial at the bottom helps distinguish AM from PM hours. A date window with a black background is positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock, displaying the date in white Arabic numerals. Several indicators are marked around the perimeter, letting you know whether the watch is paired with your smartphone and whether the alarm is on or off. Finally, Casio places its name below 12 o'clock alongside the MR-G logo in brown - a mark of authenticity.
This timepiece is powered by a solar movement of Japanese origin, ensuring reliable, smooth performance in any condition. Enabling precise and fluid timekeeping day and night, the movement is equipped with Casio's Tough Solar technology. This innovative system converts light into lasting energy to power all of the watch's functions, storing any surplus in a rechargeable cell. This ensures dependable, high-performance operation even in low-light conditions. Battery life on a full charge is 5 months, extending to 26 months in power-saving mode.
This stunning bracelet is crafted from DAT55G titanium with a DLC coating and features a textured blue aogai lacquer design evoking the look of Japanese sword scabbards. Its iridescent accents are achieved through a structural color technique using ultra-precise micro-level treatment. Scratch- and wear-resistant, the bracelet showcases a brushed/mirror-polished finish and is composed of three rows of links that elegantly frame your wrist. Compatible with wrist sizes from 150 to 205 mm, it delivers the perfect blend of comfort, style, and durability for any occasion. A deployant clasp makes it easy to put on and keep securely in place. The clasp bears the MR-G signature and features two pushers and a safety lock for added peace of mind.
This model offers water resistance up to 20 atmospheres, or 200 meters. A watch built to go wherever your aquatic adventures take you - including freediving. It handles high-pressure water jets without issue, and shower, bath, lap swimming, and breath-hold diving are all fair game. For scuba diving with tanks, however, we recommend a timepiece with a higher water resistance rating. Also, avoid operating the crown or pushers while submerged to protect the integrity of the mechanism.
