Best known for its knives, Swiss brand Victorinox has also earned a stellar reputation for high-quality watchmaking. You'll find the same meticulous craftsmanship of a company founded in 1884 that has built remarkable expertise over the decades. As a tribute to Switzerland's rolling landscapes - the homeland the brand has always called its own - Victorinox introduces its latest creation: the automatic Journey 1884 241981 watch. This new timepiece features a round case with a 43 mm diameter, crafted entirely in stainless steel. Its robust construction and premium materials make it highly shock-resistant - it's even ISO 1413 certified. Given its proportions, this watch is oriented toward a men's audience. The case is fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel with 120 clicks. Its insert is crafted in polished ceramic - a stunning detail that's as beautiful as it is scratch-resistant. Graduated to 60 minutes, note the way the date "1884" has been delicately engraved at 6 o'clock. To protect the dial as effectively as possible, Victorinox fitted this watch with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The winding crown - used to set the time and date - is positioned at 3 o'clock and is protected by a dedicated crown guard to prevent accidental manipulation. The case back is screwed and transparent, letting you admire the automatic movement spinning inside. You'll also find the inscription "From the makers of the original Swiss Army Knife" engraved around its edge.
What makes this black dial stand out is its remarkably textured and layered design. Starting from the outer ring: you'll find a white minute track on a black background, keeping your timekeeping as precise as possible. Just inside that sits a ring decorated with horizontal engravings, which houses all the hour markers. The indices at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock are pointed; the one at 6 o'clock is triangular; and the marker at 12 o'clock is represented by the brand's logo. The remaining positions feature Arabic numerals. All markers are coated in luminescent material for optimal legibility - even in complete darkness. The third, central zone features a granular textured finish and houses the three hands. The hour and minute hands have a "baton" shape and are also coated in luminescent material. The seconds hand is beautifully accented with a pop of yellow. A date window sits at 6 o'clock.
This watch features a magnificent and exceptionally rugged stainless steel 3-link bracelet. Fully brushed, it reinforces the watch's adventurous spirit. A quick-change bracelet system is included. The clasp is a butterfly buckle engraved with the brand's logo and name.
This model offers a water resistance of 20 atmospheres, or 200 meters. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a watch built to keep up with your deepest aquatic adventures - it's designed for freediving. No fear of water here: you can even use high-pressure washers with this timepiece on your wrist without worry. Showering, bathing, lap swimming, and freediving are all fair game. That said, for scuba diving with tanks, we recommend a timepiece with a higher water resistance rating. Also, avoid operating the crown or pushers while submerged to protect the integrity of the movement.
