Founded in 1884, Victorinox is a Swiss brand that has been designing and assembling timepieces since 1989 - each one striking the perfect balance between elegance and performance. Among its iconic collections, the Journey 1884 stands out for its rugged construction and shock-resistant build. The Journey 1884 Quartz Watch 242014, crafted for men who want sport-chic style, features a round case measuring 43 mm in diameter and 12.20 mm thick, weighing in at 118 grams. The case is made from 316L stainless steel with a brushed finish that enhances its character. It is surrounded by a unidirectional bezel also crafted in 316L stainless steel with a yellow gold PVD treatment for a beautifully polished effect. The bezel is knurled and features a black insert graduated with a minute track and a luminescent marker, plus the engraving 1884 as a nod to the brand's founding year. On the right side of the case, a knurled, screw-down crown in gold tone - signed and guarded - handles hour, minute, and date adjustments. The dial is shielded from shocks and scratches by a flat sapphire crystal, and the screw-down caseback ensures a water resistance of 20 ATM. The solid caseback is engraved with the brand's iconic Swiss Army knife motif.
The dial of this watch is engineered for effortless timekeeping in any situation - refined, clean, and elegant at a glance. Set against a black base with a double-circle finish combining a matte look with a sandblasted and glossy effect, its edge features a minute track with gold-tone graduations. Inside, Arabic numerals alternate with geometric indexes to display the hours in a 12-hour format. All hour markers are treated with a luminescent coating for easy reading in low-light environments and are indicated by central hands. Also luminescent and featuring a skeleton design, the hands tell the hours with the short hand, minutes with the long hand, and seconds with the slender one. A central ring adds military hours from 13 to 24, and a date window sits at 6 o'clock. The brand name appears below 12 o'clock, marked by a coat of arms bearing the Swiss cross, while "Antimagnetic" is noted at the opposite end.
The central display is powered by a Ronda 715 quartz movement. Swiss-made, it runs on a 371 battery with a 5-year life and delivers a monthly accuracy of -10 to +20 seconds.
This watch comes mounted on a sleek black rubber strap that perfectly complements its sport-chic aesthetic. Supple and comfortable, it sits beautifully on the wrist and fastens easily thanks to its stainless steel pin buckle.
With a water resistance of 20 atmospheres, equivalent to 200 meters, this model earns the title of "dive watch" without hesitation. Our watchmaking experts agree: while this timepiece handles showers, baths, lap swimming, freediving, and recreational scuba with ease, it is not designed for extreme deep-sea diving where pressure would overwhelm its seals. For professional divers pushing serious depth limits, we recommend models rated 30 ATM and above. We also advise against operating the pushers or crown while submerged, to keep the water resistance perfectly intact!
