The Bird
This thoroughly design-forward decorative piece draws its inspiration from a cheerful little creature: the bird. Featuring a charming shade of blue, it embodies the Blue Bird from the classic French fairy tale - a symbol of happiness and bliss. It will sing its joyful, musical melody for you, season after season. Worth noting: the Blue Bird is indeed a reference to a tale, and no minor one at that. Written in prose by Marie-Catherine d'Aulnoy and published in 1697, it tells the love story between Princess Florine and King Charming, who was turned into a blue bird out of jealousy.
A little backstory: a king in a fabulous land had a very beautiful daughter named Florine, while his new wife after a remarriage (and new queen) had a very ugly daughter. When the time came for both young women to wed, Prince Charming naturally chose the beautiful princess over the unpleasant one (the Ocarat team in no way endorses such practices). Jealousy and scheming followed, and at the king's death, an enchanter and two fairies appeared at the queen's and her daughter's request, transforming the prince into a blue bird to avenge the affront of his wedding to the beautiful Florine. Of course, the bird wishes to become a prince again, and a great adventure begins - much like the one you're about to experience with your new Daqi Concept - Jingoo object.
This tale is a contemporary of those by Perrault. Knowing that our Ochrono store is located at 3 Rue Perrault - a street named in honor of the storyteller's architect brother - we simply couldn't pass this product by. The opportunity was too good to pass up; we took it as a sign!
A celebrated tale, the characters of Princess Florine and the Blue Bird appear, among other places, in the ballet Sleeping Beauty by Marius Petipa and Tchaikovsky.
Features
The Daqi Concept - Jingoo is the ultimate decorative accessory for your home. Easy to use, its music & alarm clock function is connected to an app (currently available on Apple only, with Android support in development).
The Music: The Jingoo features two speakers designed to reproduce music as faithfully as possible. The bass is delivered by the speaker positioned inside the wooden base, with its sound waves reflected and amplified by the bird's ceramic tail. The treble is reproduced by the speaker housed in the bird's body. Together, these two sound waves create a deep, immersive stereo effect. In its design, the Jingoo was engineered to optimize sound quality across all frequencies. The bird's shape allows frequencies to be blended at 1800Hz, effectively filtering out everything below the bass or above the treble range. This prevents any interference that might arise from the overlap and separation of bass and treble, allowing each to reach its full potential.
The Light: You'll notice that the Jingoo offers adjustable brightness - bright or dimmed, depending on the mood you're after. Simply switch it on using the button on the base, then adjust the intensity with the dimmer switch located right next to the on/off button, also on the base.

The Manufacturing Technique
With the design team based in Taiwan, it made perfect sense to prioritize the unique craftspeople and materials from the local market and culture of their home country - and this applies to every component of the Jingoo. The Taiwanese city of Yingge is renowned as one of the cradles of ceramic craftsmanship and holds an important place in the global ceramics market. Moreover, since Taiwan is a subtropical island, it has been known for over a century for exporting high-quality wood. As a result, the base is made from a wooden disc sourced from the island, while the bird's body is crafted in ceramics from Yingge. It is shaped using precision molds and fired in traditional kilns by the city's master ceramicists. The patterns on certain Jingoo models are created using a technique called "Ceramic Decal", which requires a complex, comprehensive application process to ensure they adhere properly to the rounded shape of the bird's body.
