Cuervo Y Sobrinos is a Cuban-born watchmaking brand crafting chic, refined timepieces with a signature touch of originality. Since its founding in 1882, the brand has drawn inspiration from Havana to create exceptional timekeepers, blending the perfection of Swiss craftsmanship with ingenious expertise. Today, we're thrilled to introduce the stunning Historiador Hemingway GMT "The Fisherman" 3192B.1B - a masterclass in watchmaking technique and refinement that pays tribute to Ernest Hemingway, celebrated author and true legend of the 20th century. Hemingway spent over 20 years in Cuba and deeply loved the country for its Latin identity - the very identity that permeates every Cuervo y Sobrinos watch. This is a limited edition of 288 pieces, created in collaboration with the Hemingway Limited organization, nodding to the iconic novella "The Old Man and the Sea", written in Cuba and awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1953. The superb round case in stainless steel captivates with its vintage-inspired look, ergonomic and elongated lugs. Its polished finish and bold case size lend the watch a brilliant, refined look that elevates any everyday style. With a diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of 11.75 mm, it's the perfect fit for men who crave authenticity. A bezel marked with Arabic numerals numbered 1 to 24 serves as a second time zone indicator. The dial is protected by a double-curved sapphire crystal, shielding it from daily shocks and damage. An anti-reflective coating ensures optimal legibility of all central indicators, which are adjusted via the silver-toned screw-down crown at 3 o'clock. The screw-back case fitted with a sapphire crystal offers a view of the movement, is adorned with a Hemingway emblem sticker on the rotor, and guarantees water resistance to 10 ATM. This watch ships in a special leather book-shaped packaging that doubles as a watch case - or sits proudly on your bookshelf.
With elegant restraint at its core, the manufacturer paired this model with a clean, uncluttered dial that amplifies its charm. It showcases a marine-inspired blue with a brushed finish - a perfect blend of refinement and modernity that sharpens the timepiece's urban edge. Free of unnecessary flourishes, it tells the time with understated authority. Silver-toned indices are rendered as bold Arabic numerals, presided over by the logo at 12 o'clock. They're tracked by two sword-shaped hands marking the hours and minutes, accompanied by a slender seconds hand and a fourth blue hand indicating GMT time. All indicators are coated with Super Luminova for legibility in low-light conditions. The writer's iconic quote "Every day is a new day. It is better to be lucky." is inscribed in English on the rehaut at 12 o'clock and in Spanish at 6 o'clock. A minute track runs along the perimeter for precise timekeeping. At 6 o'clock, a date window displays the current day of the month. Finally, the brand signs its name at 12 o'clock, followed by the name of legend Ernest Hemingway at 6 o'clock.
Powering this model is a Swiss automatic movement - an ultra-high-performance mechanism delivering precise display of hours, minutes, and seconds, as well as reliable date functionality. Specifically, it's the CYS 8122 caliber, built on the Soprod C125, 11½'' base. Equipped with 25 jewels, it measures 26.20 mm in diameter with a height of 4.10 mm. It beats at an oscillation frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 42 hours.
To complete its masterful look, this beautiful watch comes with two straps.
The first bracelet is crafted in silver-toned stainless steel, featuring three rows of alternating brushed and polished links for a brilliant, sophisticated finish. Robust yet comfortable, it hugs the wrist with a refined modern feel. It secures with an elegant deployant clasp in stainless steel.
The second strap in blue denim Cordura textile adds color and energy to the ensemble. Perfect for your most fashion-forward looks and casual outfits, its white stitching adds a refined touch - and it fastens with a pin buckle.
This model offers water resistance to 10 atmospheres, or 100 meters - it's genuinely waterproof. With a style this easygoing, it's ready to dive into aquatic adventures alongside you. From puddles to the pool, this timepiece handles splashes without complaint. Showering, bathing, and recreational swimming? No problem. That said, Ocarat's watchmaking experts want you to know that, while water-resistant, this model is not suited for diving (professional or otherwise) and should be kept away from high-pressure cleaning devices. We also recommend avoiding use of the crown or push-buttons while submerged.
