The Watch
Cuervo y Sobrinos traces its roots to the warmth of Cuba - more precisely, to Havana in 1864. Its founder, Ramon Cuervo, was the first to open a luxury jewelry boutique in the heart of the island. The brand crafts one-of-a-kind timepieces that blend Cuban soul with Swiss expertise. Here we have a truly exceptional piece: the Flameante Saumon 3130.1S-MON from the Historiador collection. The Spanish word "Flameante" means "Flamboyant," and you immediately understand what the brand set out to express. Indeed, its unique design will turn heads at the wrist. Its round case measuring 40 mm fits naturally on any wrist. Its remarkable slimness of 6.2 mm makes it exceptionally comfortable to wear - it slides effortlessly under a shirt cuff, for example. Elegant cow-horn lugs secure the strap, their graceful curve providing excellent support and comfort. The crown at 3 o'clock is engraved with the brand's logo, allowing you to wind the watch and set the time. To fully appreciate this 3-hand masterpiece, a double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating offers maximum scratch resistance. Finally, a transparent sapphire caseback secured by screws lets you admire the stunning manual-winding movement.
The Dial
The Cuban house presents a hypnotic dial. A magnificent wave guilloche pattern gives the sensation of perpetual motion, echoing the flamboyant dances and fiery spirit of Cuba. Its soft salmon color pairs perfectly with the silver color of the case. At its center, the sword-shaped hour and minute hands command attention. Even nighttime reading is easy thanks to Super-Luminova treatment. The small seconds is off-center at 6 o'clock, accompanied by the timepiece's name. For easy time reading, you'll find silver Arabic numeral indexes at 3, 6, and 9. The remaining indexes are triangular to balance the dial. Finally, the brand signs its masterpiece with its coat of arms at 12 o'clock and its name just below.
The Movement
Cuervo y Sobrinos selected caliber CYS 2052 for this model, based on the renowned Swiss ETA 7001. This movement features 17 jewels, is manually wound, and offers 42 hours of power reserve. It beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour, that's 6 beats per second! To top it all off, it features "Côte de Genève" decoration and blued screws!
The Strap
The strap is an elegant matte black alligator leather strap. Discreet tone-on-tone stitching adds to its refinement. A splendid butterfly deployant clasp engraved with the brand's logo completes this strap.
Water Resistance
This watch is water-resistant to 3 ATM, or 30 meters. It can handle splashes and light rain without issue. However, it is not designed for more than that and should stay out of the water. Aquatic activities are not recommended.
