The Watch

Swiss brand Vulcain, a specialist in mechanical watchmaking since 1858, has been combining the finest expertise to craft timepieces that stand the test of time and shape the history of horology. As a tribute to the iconic watch worn by several American heads of state, Vulcain introduces the Cricket Tradition - a model that owes its name to its alarm function, which mimics the chirping of a cricket. It features a classic round case crafted in polished steel with a 36 mm diameter. The case is framed by a bright silver-toned steel bezel and protected by a sapphire crystal renowned for its scratch resistance. On the right side of the case, you'll find the screw-down crown and a push-button at 2 o'clock to control the alarm. This iconic timepiece comes in two variants: the first features a screw-down steel caseback engraved with the Vulcain logo, which also ensures 5 ATM water resistance.

The Dial

Vulcain stayed true to the iconic design of the legendary Cricket when refreshing the collection. The dial features a semi-matte black finish, with all applied markings rendered in white for effortless legibility. The hours are indicated by an alternating combination of Arabic numerals and applied indexes. The dauphine hands, also in white, coordinate with a simplified minute scale showing 10, 30, and 50 to mark the alarm hours - indicated by an arrow-tipped hand. The brand and collection name sit just above the center of the dial, completing a timeless and captivating design.

The Movement

The Vulcain watch's revival was made possible by the introduction of the manual-winding mechanical V40 caliber. Powering this Cricket Tradition, it delivers an improved 52-hour power reserve with enhanced accuracy. Worth noting: a second barrel drives the alarm, which runs for 20 seconds. The movement beats at 18,000 vibrations per hour.

The Strap

The alligator leather strap with a spring bar makes this watch just as stunning on the outside as it is on the inside. Its black color, paired with the silver-toned steel pin buckle, gives this timepiece a unique, elegant, and vintage aesthetic.

Water Resistance

With a water resistance of 50 meters, or 5 ATM in standard watchmaking terms, this timepiece can handle the occasional splash - but prolonged water exposure is another story. You can wear it in the shower from time to time, but to preserve the precision and quality of the movement, our watch specialists strongly recommend keeping it away from baths, pools, and the sea. In short: no swimming or diving, and no extended contact with water.
