The Watch
First unveiled in 1961, the original Seiko Alpinist proved itself on the wrists of elite athletes - and especially Japanese mountaineers. This iconic timepiece from the Japanese Maison has been reimagined for today and now joins the prestigious Prospex collection. It presents itself in a minimalist stainless steel case with a cushion shape and a 38 mm diameter - a discreet, refined fit for the male wrist. The traditional screwed crown at 3 o'clock handles all necessary adjustments. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial and ensures optimal legibility for years to come, thanks to its anti-reflective coating. The caseback delights watch enthusiasts with a view of the automatic movement in action through a sapphire crystal window. Screwed tight, it guarantees water resistance down to 200 meters.
The Dial
This dial immerses you in the world of vintage diving watches with its deep green background, while a sparkling finish adds a modern, elegant touch. At its center, two gold cathedral hands - reminiscent of stained glass windows - indicate the hours and minutes, accompanied by a long, slender seconds hand that sweeps continuously. All hands feature Seiko's Lumibrite coating, ensuring visibility in underwater environments. The hours are marked by Arabic numerals and triangular gold-toned indexes, also Lumibrite-treated, for clear and accurate reading even in the depths. A white minute track runs along the outer edge of the dial for precise minute reading. Seiko also adds a date window at 3 o'clock on a black background, with a magnifying lens for quick and easy reading. The Japanese brand signs its dial beneath the 12 o'clock index in gold lettering and marks its collection at the 6 o'clock position.
The Movement
This Alpinist delivers outstanding performance through its automatic movement, engineered by Seiko. The caliber 6R35 ensures precise analog display of hours, minutes, and seconds - and impresses further with a robust 70-hour power reserve.
The Bracelet
Updated for the modern era, this model is paired with a stainless steel bracelet that perfectly complements the case. Bold yet elegant, its three-link rows conform naturally to the wrist with a 20 mm lug width. Whether slipped under a diving suit or a dress shirt, this bracelet fits every occasion. It fastens securely with a single push-button deployant clasp.
Water Resistance
This model offers a water resistance rating of 20 atmospheres - that's 200 meters. Ladies and gentlemen, here is a watch ready to join you on your deepest aquatic adventures! Designed for freediving, it laughs in the face of water. You can even use a high-pressure washer without worrying about damaging this timepiece. Shower, bath, lap swimming, and freediving are all fair game. That said, for scuba diving with tanks, we recommend a watch with a higher water resistance rating. Also, avoid operating the crown or pushers while submerged to protect the movement's integrity.
