Swiss watchmaker Alpina pairs cutting-edge features - including precise automatic movements and premium materials - to craft timepieces that are as high-performing as they are elegant. With over a century of expertise, the brand continues to captivate watch enthusiasts through its unique craftsmanship and ability to merge tradition with innovation. In 1938, the legendary Alpina 4 revolutionized the concept of the sport watch, supplying military pilots with precision timekeeping instruments. Drawing inspiration from alpine leisure pursuits, Alpina created the Alpiner collection. Discover this striking Extreme Skeleton AL-520NSKT3AE6 watch with its refined design. It features a cushion-shaped case with a fixed bezel secured by six screws. Crafted from 316L stainless steel, the case sports a silver tone with brushed and polished finishes for a striking effect. It measures 40.40 mm in length, 39 mm in width, and 11.50 mm in thickness, weighing 98.30 g - dimensions that sit perfectly on a men's wrist. The flat sapphire crystal above the case features an anti-reflective coating, effectively shielding the dial from scratches and impacts. The screw-down crown at 3 o'clock makes adjusting the hands effortless. This timepiece is fitted with a screw-secured, transparent case back that reveals the movement's inner workings, while providing water resistance of 20 ATM - equivalent to 200 meters.
The dial on this watch stands out thanks to its skeleton design that reveals the movement beneath. Its blue outer ring features a matte finish for a refined look. At the center, two hands display the hours and minutes, while the seconds hand with its red counterweight tracks the seconds. The first two hands, along with the baton indexes they sweep, are treated with Superluminova C1 for excellent legibility in low-light conditions. A minute track runs along the outer edge of the dial for easy time reading. Finally, Alpina displays its name at 12 o'clock and notes its place of manufacture near 6 o'clock.
This model is powered by a Swiss-made automatic movement - specifically the AL-520 caliber based on the Sellita SW200 - ensuring precise hours, minutes, and seconds. It beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a power reserve of 38 hours. The movement incorporates 26 jewels to minimize friction.
This timepiece comes paired with a rubber strap in blue. Its small square pattern design adds an extra touch of style. Flexible enough to complement both dressed-up and casual looks, it fastens easily with a deployment clasp featuring push-buttons and a width of 15.25 mm. The strap measures 21 mm at the lug width and has a length of 75×115 mm.
With a water resistance of 20 atmospheres - equivalent to 200 meters - this model qualifies as a true dive watch. Watchmaking experts agree it handles showers, baths, lap swimming, freediving, and recreational scuba diving with ease. That said, it is not designed for extreme deep-sea diving, where pressure would eventually exceed its water resistance rating. For professional divers taking on serious depth challenges, we recommend exploring models rated at 30 atmospheres or more. We also advise against operating the pushers or crown while submerged, to maintain optimal water resistance.
